Dutch iPhone plan to expensive for 'heavy users' [Thu Jul 3, 09:17PM]

Sounds strange but if you take a closer look at the plans T-Mobile is selling with the iPhone in the Netherlands you'd come to the same conclusion.

The most expensive plan costs 64,95 Euros a month. With this plan you'll get 500 minutes, 500 text messages and unlimited data usage. Every minute that you use beyond the 500 minute limit will be charged at 25 cts per minute or Text message.

Wel, for most people the 500 minute plan will be (more than) sufficient but I know a lot of private and business users that spend way more than 500 minutes per month on their cell phone.

T-Mobile in the Netherlands doesn't provide a plan for those users so if someone like that would want to get an iPhone and he (or she) spends on average 1200 minutes on his (or her) cell phone they would end up paying way more than they would have to pay when the choose not to buy an iPhone.

Why? Because that user would normally choose a 1500 minute plan that costs 135 Euro's per month. If they choose to buy an iPhone they would have to pay 65 Euro's a month for the 500 minutes iPhone plan, plus T-Mobile would charge them on average 175 Euro's extra for the 700 minutes they use outside the plan (I'm still using the 1200 minute user in this example).

So the iPhone would cost them a mere 105 Euro's a month more than the amount they pay now. That doesn't seem fair now, does it?

Let's hope T-Mobile will come up with some extra minute plans for the iPhone soon!
