Dutch iPhone plan to expensive for 'heavy users' [Thu Jul 3, 09:17PM]

Sounds strange but if you take a closer look at the plans T-Mobile is selling with the iPhone in the Netherlands you'd come to the same conclusion.

The most expensive plan costs 64,95 Euros a month. With this plan you'll get 500 minutes, 500 text messages and unlimited data usage. Every minute that you use beyond the 500 minute limit will be charged at 25 cts per minute or Text message.

Wel, for most people the 500 minute plan will be (more than) sufficient but I know a lot of private and business users that spend way more than 500 minutes per month on their cell phone.... read on

Dutch mobile market revenues decline 0.9% in Q1 [Fri Jun 6, 07:59AM]

PRESS RELEASE - In the first quarter of 2008, the Dutch mobile industry generated EUR 1.53 billion in revenues, down 0.9 percent from the same period last year and down 1.6 percent from the fourth quarter.

Nokia and University of Cambridge launch the Morph - a nanotechnology concept device [Mon Feb 25, 10:25AM]

2.2 million cars in Europe have a telematics device [Sat Feb 23, 02:39PM]

According to a new research report from the analyst firm Berg Insight, 2.2 million passenger cars in Europe had an on-board telematics device at the end of 2007.

China Mobile to trial LTE [Fri Feb 22, 09:32PM]

China Mobile announced yesterday it is to join Vodafone and Verizon Wireless in the trials of LTE technology.

The three-way operator trials will focus on the testing of LTE in both Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) paired spectrum, and Time Division Duplex (TDD) unpaired spectrum.

According to a statement, China Mobile points to its interest in trialling TD-LTE “as an evolution of current TDSCDMA technology to enable the exploitation of unpaired spectrum globally" together with LTE-FDD.

ETSI: Economics driving LTE standards [Wed Feb 20, 02:20PM]

Economic considerations are as important to the LTE standards process as the focus on taking mobile broadband performance to new heights, Adrian Scrase, Vice President, International Partnership Projects, ETSI, told Congress delegates Tuesday.

Sarin calls for simplification [Sun Feb 17, 12:08PM]

Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin yesterday used the opening Congress keynote session to call upon the mobile industry to simplify its future development and continue to adopt common standards.

A central theme of his discussion focused on whether WiMAX should become part of LTE. "Perhaps WiMAX could become involved with the TDD aspect of LTE. More importantly, we don’t want duel standards; this has proved unproductive in the past, and we want to encourage the inclusion or merging of WiMAX into LTE," he said.
