Systems Introduces Solutions for a Subscriber-centric World [Tue Jan 29, 09:10AM]

At Mobile World Congress 2008 Bridgewater Systems will introduce its solutions for a Subscriber-centric World, which enable operators to dynamically adapt their network and applications in real-time to individual subscriber’s needs, thereby providing an optimal subscriber Quality of Experience, and also enhancing the overall Quality of Service of the operator’s network.

These Subscriber-Centric solutions are access network agnostic, supporting a range of wireless networks, including WiMAX, as well as fixed mobile convergence deployments, offering a unique solution set for operators to use in differentiating their services for subscribers, while merchandizing their broadband infrastructure.

The Subscriber-centric World brings together unique information on each individual user to create a unified view of subscribers across all networks and applications. These solutions solve the key here-and-now issues that mobile operators will face in 2008 and enable them for the first time to develop and market new applications, services and content based on real subscriber demand.

Providing the personal touch:
Leveraging a broad range of subscriber related data, these market leading solutions enable operators to gain an understanding of their subscribers as individuals – for example their likes and dislikes, who they are, how they’ve used the network, where they are, what they are trying to do and their entitlements to do so.

Bringing this level of subscriber awareness to the network enables operators to make better informed decisions on what applications and content to push to who and when is the best time to do so. As operators begin to launch new revenue generating services such as mobile advertising and Location Based Services, operators can use these solutions to ensure that the information that reaches individual subscribers will be relevant and value adding.

Solving the key operational issues of 2008:
Providing a high quality user experience is becoming more and more critical as subscribers expectations strengthen. In 2008 not only will subscribers begin to expect this level of personalised service, but they will also be looking to have access to new available technologies such as WiMAX, and Fixed Mobile Convergence services without losing the quality they currently experience with existing 2G and 3G networks.

Why operators need to embrace the Subscriber-centric World in 2008:
Create a seamless subscriber experience in Fixed Mobile Convergence:
Subscribers using Fixed Mobile Convergence services will expect seamless service when moving between multiple networks, especially when making a call or using an application on the move. Operators must succeed in managing this seamless subscriber experience over multiple networks, otherwise their customers will begin looking elsewhere for better service.

Accelerate WiMAX introduction:
If subscribers have negative early experiences using 4G technologies, the take off of WiMAX applications will not be as smooth as they should be and operators could experience a slow return on investment in their WiMAX networks.

Bridgewater Systems has proven experience in providing leading network access control solutions for both fixed and mobile WiMAX through its participation in the largest tier one trial of this technology. Bridgewater’s extensive experience of this emerging technology, including relevant WiMAX Forum standards, will help operators accelerate and derisk the introduction of WiMAX.

Bring subscriber awareness to policy enforcement :
Subscriber-centric policy management evolves the Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) model from one focused on the quality of service in the network and application demand by all subscribers, to one focused on individual subscriber’s quality of experience, where decisions are made in real-time based on dynamic and static information about each subscriber.

Improve service activation with policy-driven IP Address Management:
Operators can create flexible policy-based IP address allocation decisions, based on subscriber policy to improve subscriber service activation response, by linking detailed subscriber context information – such as where the user is located, what device and access network is being used – to the subscriber’s network profile.
